Connect

Claude (web, desktop and mobile)

1. Open InsiderCat in Claude's connector directory (web, desktop or mobile) and click Connect. On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner enables it for the organization first.
2. Sign in with Google and click Allow.
3. Ask Claude about Congress trades, portfolios or insider activity. It uses InsiderCat tools when they're relevant.

Other MCP clients (API key)

Clients without OAuth support can send an API key as a bearer token (Authorization: Bearer ic_live_…). Create a key and copy a ready-made config for Claude Code, Gemini CLI, ChatGPT and others on the API & MCP page.

Authentication & permissions

• Sign-in uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE. Claude registers itself automatically (dynamic client registration), so there's no client ID or secret to copy.
• The only scope is mcp:read: read access to InsiderCat's published data through the MCP server. It can't change your account, billing or API keys.
• Access tokens expire after 1 hour. Refresh tokens last 60 days and are replaced every time they're used.
• Tool calls need an active API & MCP plan. Without one you can still connect, and tools reply with a message explaining how to get a plan.
• Rate limit: 120 requests per minute per API key or connection.

Your data & disconnecting

• Signing in with Google uses your InsiderCat account, or creates one if you don't have it yet.
• InsiderCat only receives the tool parameters your assistant sends (for example a ticker or a date range), not your conversation.
• To disconnect, remove InsiderCat in your assistant's connector settings, or revoke it under Connected apps on the API & MCP page. Access stops within a minute.

Tools

All 20 tools are read-only and idempotent, and only return InsiderCat data. Names and descriptions are shown in English, exactly as your assistant sees them.

Errors

• 401 Unauthorized: not signed in, or the token expired or was revoked. Claude refreshes the token or asks you to reconnect.
• No active plan: tool calls return an error message with a link to pricing instead of data.
• 429 Too Many Requests: rate limit reached. Wait a moment and try again.
